New season? New marketing campaign.

Summer is just about here, and that means it’s time for your business to start throwing together its big summer marketing plans.

Let’s get you jump started with a few ideas to heat up your marketing success all season long.

Summer Holidays

Holidays are always an excellent approach for a marketing campaign. To being with, let’s dive in with a quick look at the two big holidays your business should focus in on this summer.

Independence Day (July 4th)

The Fourth of July – US Independence Day – is about as good a marketing opportunity as it gets. Here’s a few statistics from 2017 (courtesy of CNBC) breaking down what customers are looking to buy, and how much they’re spending.

  • $5 million on flags
  • 44.2 million people traveling 50+ miles
  • Hamburger patties($388 million), barbecue chicken ($389 million), buns ($133 million), and ketchup ($37 million). So, yeah. A lot of food.
  • $1 billion on beer!
  • And of course, it wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without fireworks. Customers spent over $800 million in 2016.

But that’s not all. The Fourth of July is a great time to push any sort of patriotic merchandise, and even deck your business out in red, white, and blue. Don’t sleep on this holiday.

Labor Day (September 3rd)

Right at the tail-end of summer comes Labor Day, the perfect holiday to cap off your summer marketing. Coming in on September 3rd, you’ll have a decent bit of time to get your plans together for this one.

So what should you focus in on for Labor Day marketing? Labor Day traditionally means a day off and a long weekend. You can’t go wrong with building your campaign around time off, relaxation, and family. This is your last real opportunity to focus in on those summer themes too.

Summer Sales, Summer Fun

The summer season is practically tailor made for selling stuff. It’s a whole season of sunshine, beaches, and outdoor activities. Sunscreen, bathing suits, sunglasses, you name it. Whatever summer products you’ve got, it’s time for a big blowout.

Want to go beyond just sales? Get your business out and have some fun. Try finding ways to get involved in local events. Perhaps you could sponsor something like a marathon. Maybe you could even set up a booth/tent at a block party. While you’re out there, hand out some coupons so customers know to come in later.

Engaging with your community is a great way to increase visibility and raise brand awareness with customers who might not be so familiar with you, and summer is one of the best times to do it.
