Organic food sales are growing larger every single year. Customers are caring more and more about what ingredients they’re eating, where their food is sourced, and how sustainable they are. It’s only natural that you, as a restaurant owner, should want to get on board with organic food.

Fully embracing organic food isn’t for every restaurant. However, it can at least behoove you to have a few organic selections on the menu. Just because your restaurant doesn’t have a reputation for being the healthiest or even the most sustainable, doesn’t mean that you can’t have a few options to appease customers who are looking for organic dishes.

According to a report from Maru/Matchbox, which you can read about over at Marketwired, 68% of millennials will spend more on organic foods, while 66% will spend more on sustainable foods. That’s a huge market that’s just waiting to be tapped into. It’s also a very large group of people that will be scanning your menu for the “organic” section.

You might think that organic ingredients will always wind up being more expensive to source. While, more often that not, this idea does hold true. This shouldn’t necessarily dissuade you from getting in on organic. According to Consumer Reports, 47% of organic foods are more expensive. Surprisingly though, they discovered a “huge” range. Here’s what they had to say about it.

“In a couple of instances, the organic product was actually cheaper, by as much as 13 percent for honey at Amazon Fresh. In fact, depending on where we shopped, we found organic lettuce carrots, maple syrup, olive oil, and cream cheese for the same price or less than their conventional counterparts.”

So, based on Consumer Reports’ findings, if you’re savvy enough during the purchasing process, you don’t have to break the bank in order to source organic food.

When it comes down to it, organic food is simply a major selling point that doesn’t seem to be going away. Sales of organic products are climbing every single year. You don’t want to miss out.
