As we begin 2020 and head into a new decade, I’d like to take the opportunity to delve into the importance of mobile marketing for the modern business. At this point, it’s hard to imagine any business that hasn’t embraced mobile on some level. But at the same time, I don’t believe that most are making full use of the many benefits mobile marketing can provide.

Whether you’re thinking about shaping up your mobile marketing, or you just need a quick refresher, here’s our list of mobile marketing benefits.

Engage wherever and whenever. Customers have their mobile devices on hand all time and wherever they go. Whether they’re in your store, at the dinner table, or even in the bathroom, the reach of mobile devices means getting in touch with your customers is as effortless as it’s ever been.

Mobile engagement is massive. Not only does mobile engagement allow you to get in touch with customers whenever you want, it’s also highly effective. In fact, mobile engagement is larger than any other form of engagement. According to Google, the modern customer has two times more brand interactions on their mobile device than any other place. Sounds like something to prioritize, right?

Everything runs through mobile. Whether it’s your website or social media, the vast majority of customers are accessing your content on a mobile device. That makes your job a heck of a lot easier, because it means that pretty much anything you’re producing that’s meant for a screen needs to be made with mobile in mind.

Mobile loyalty. Mobile has rapidly become the premier destination for loyalty programs. Using a smartphone to manage your loyalty program is infinitely easier than keeping track of different membership cards, hole-punch cards, etc. The convenience factor that modern customers value cannot be understated. According to Bond, 85% of customers using mobile loyalty programs say that technology improved the overall experience.

Two-way engagement. Mobile engagement is particularly useful because it provides an important avenue for two-way engagement. In the instance of a text-based loyalty program, customers can directly respond and communicate with brands without having to even download an app. This lets customers engage in contests, polls, feedback, and more.

Instant action. Mobile is instant. And because of that, it’s one of the best ways to encourage unplanned, spur-of-the-moment purchases or actions. Have a flash sale that just started? Let your customers know so they don’t miss out.

Easier engagement with Millennials and Gen Z. If you’re having trouble getting engaged with the two youngest generations, mobile is a good place to start. While it won’t be an instant-fix, it sure will help. These customers (Gen Z in particular) were raised on smartphones and social media. Engaging with brands via mobile is second nature to them.
